We’re running out of colors…

allnewmsmarvel:

A few weeks ago, we announced that Ms. Marvel #1 is getting its SIXTH PRINTING.  Wowza.  If you aren’t already aware, that’s pretty historic.  Simultaneously, issue 2 is getting a 4th printing and issues 4 and 5 are getting their 2nd printing.  We’re elated, not only because it seems like we’re selling out, but because people are walking into their COMIC SHOPS to buy what is sure to be a collectible series.   And for that, we thank you.

Issue 7 is on sale 8/20.  Adrian Alphona returns with issue 8 (sneak peeks to come.)

THIS TOOK TOO DAMN LONG

Since it took me over an hour to work around all the bullshit verizon’s managed to put in place to make simple transfers from phone to computer nearly impossible, I am dumping multiple selfies on y’all.

So here’s my closet cosplay for going to GOTG tonight. One guy recognized me as hero, although I’m not sure he knew which one. The gal at the ticket booth grinned a huge grin when she saw me, so I think she also picked up on something and offered me a military discount (I declined, but it was appreciated that she recognized my rank as Captain).

Please note and appreciate the filthy bathroom, dirty mirror, and the one time I wear lipstick in public/year.

Damn, girl.

Anonymous said: Do you ink and color your own covers? That shading in the "The Fade Out" cover is gorgeous

I ink, and then in some cases provide basic shadows, but then Matt Wilson usually colours them.

Here’s what I sent to Matt this time. This is further than I would usually go - I normally just do the basic shading on the face - but as I had a very specific idea of lighting on this one, and the deadline was tight, so I wanted to make Matt’s life easier.

I did a variant for Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips’ new book THE FADE OUT. The first issue is brilliant.

Back in the day, Walter would, every once in a while, forget how to draw. Remember?" Louise said.

“Oh yeah,” Walter agreed. “That still happens occasionally. It’s like, ‘Oh my god, nothing I’m drawing looks any good anymore. My life is over as an artist.’ And what I realized, because I was an editor at the time, and had seen a lot of work go past me, was that when you hit this phase where suddenly your stuff, which looks just like it did yesterday, doesn’t look good to you anymore, it’s because your mind has made a leap. Your brain has gotten farther than your hand has learned to do it yet. But eventually, give it a few weeks, keep it up and you’ve made a leap in your own craft. That was a big help because it was so depressing when you realize you couldn’t draw anymore.

Exactly this.
